Description
An about 4 m by 3 m wide cave entrance is the mouth of a pothole which contains a shaft and descends an estimated 15 m down into a cave where Hellie, Imo and Estelle and David arrived at understanding to end blind (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 13 February 2010-02-12).ETYMOLOGY: SINGH, N (1906) lists no Khasi word -priang- as such but the noun -u pring- is the soot and the adverb -pring- means black (SINGH, N 1906: 163) while the noun -ka rong- is a colour, a paint; a show, a display and the verb -rong- means to carry between the teeth, as a cat does a rat; to carry away (SINGH, N 1906: 163).SITUATION 1 (Kharpran Daly 2004.02.25 Mss): Approximately 80 m from Krem Syntoin on the same left side of road in an obvious depression and between two prominent trees. SITUATION 2: According to the recorded GPS positions, Krem Priang Rong No. 1 lies not 80 m from Krem Syntoin (GPS positioned near N25°24'03.7”: E092°33'12.1”) but at a linear distance of 318.8 m a lttle (37.1 m) south of east (316.6 m) from Krem –>Syntoin. EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2004.02.25: Bikin Paslein, the Samasi Village Headman, guided Brian D. Kharpran Daly to the entrance of a cave called Krem Priang Rong No. 1 (Arbenz, T 2004.02 Mss: Abstracts.xls).2010.02.13: Hellen Brooke, Imogen Furlong, Estelle Sandford and David Cooke exercised futility, descended both Krem –>Syntoin and Krem Priang Rong for nothing, but understood, at least in parts, that they end blind (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 13 February 2010-02-12). On the very same day, Sandford (2010.04.16 Mss: Caves 'n' Corals: 13th February) discovered to have A day spent in the Sumasi [sic!] area with Hellie, Imo and David dropping a few shafts that had been noted in previous years. Both Krem Syntoin and Krem Priang Rong yielded very little cave.
