Description
A round pothole (1 m in diameter) in sandstone gives access to a 3 m free climb down to an estimated 15 m long cave passage, which was understood to be characterised by unidentified peculiarities and known to be aligned along an unspecified orientation (Arbenz, T 2014.12.26 Mss: Simon Brooks 16-02-2014 unnamed pot.doc). ETYMOLOGY: No autochthonous, indigenous or locally known name has been identified for what was recorded as Un-named Pot (in lymbiat area, Pdengshakap) because acording [sic!] to the guide [Lan Mulad, Pdengshakap, 2014.02.16] the cave has no name (Arbenz, T 2014.12.26 Mss: Simon Brooks 16-02-2014 unnamed pot.doc). SETTING: On the interfluve between the Myntu (Hari River) in the east and the Um Ryngka in the west, and about 300 m in a direct line (or 500 m on foot) south-west of the Pdengshakap - Tarangblang road in an area halfway between Pdengshakap and Tarangblang (at linear distances of 3.65 km ESE from Pdengshakap N25°14': E092°09' and 3.4 km NW of Tarangblang N5°12'22”: E092°12'30”). SITUATION: In an unidentified spatial relation to both the cave entrance to Krem –>Lymbiat, Pdengshakap and the GPS position for it (note 1): This pothole lies above the GPS point within 25 m of Krem Lymbiat (Arbenz, T 2014.12.26 Mss: Simon Brooks 16-02-2014 unnamed pot.doc). CAVE DESCRIPTION: A small pothole gives access to a 3 m free climb down to ca. 15 m of passage (Arbenz, T 2014.12.26 Mss: Simon Brooks 16-02-2014 unnamed pot.doc). EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2014.02.16: Charles Slong or his daughter Aiom Pamthied had arranged at Pdengshakap for the guide Lan Mulad who instructed Simon J Brooks and Roger Galloway how to visit Krem Lymbiat (Pdengshakap) (anonymous Brooks, S J et al. 2014.04.05 Mss: Diary Meghalaya 2014 Second Edit: 16th February, Sunday). On this occasion, it was Roger Galloway who rather 'explored than expolred the cave and conveyed information to S.Brooks (Arbenz, T 2014.12.26 Mss: Simon Brooks 16-02-2014 unnamed pot.doc).
