Description
A seasonal stream cave that drains a catchment area in the north-east to a subterranean estuary that resurges on the right (south-western) bank of the Khimrang stream, a tributary to the Rompa (Rompha). Annie U. Audsley in JARRATT & AUDSLEY (2002) narrates how these caves were surveyed quickly by us splitting into two teams and things got particularly exciting when … Daniel found some mermaids (?) in the streamway of Kimrang (sic!). CAVE DESCRIPTION: The solitary and mostly sand-floored passage (with two subordinate overflow tubes) runs below a shale ceiling to a -terminal- sand plugged sump (siphon) that looks a lot like it has been open at some time or another. SITUATION: About 500 m in a direct line north of the Asakgre- Imandura I.B. (Inspection Bungalow, N25°20'16.6”: E090°30'51.0” (±5.5 m, WGS84): circa 230 m asl GPS). CAVE LIFE: Crickets, large spiders (Arachnidae: Aranea: Sparassidae: conf. Heteropoda sp.).
History
EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2002.02.08: Blen Marak (Asakgre- Imandura, assisted by his brothers Erok and Hellindro) guided two survey teams to the cave where H. Daniel Gebauer, Lindsay B. Diengdoh and Peter Ludwig mapped 40 legs (143 m) in the upstream while Mark W. Brown, Jörg Dreybrodt and Annie U. Audsley surveyed 24 legs (127 m) in the downstream.
