Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 25/03/2016

A 3 m sized arch of a exsurgence cave entrance leads to a small waterfall climb and then follows a canyon style passage to deep water and a sump. The sump has an eyehole (window) above it in the wall through which visitors can see a chamber with a waterfall coming in from daylight. The small stream flows throughout the single passage cave and sinks in the boulders approximately 5 m from the main river but can be seen to resurge from under the boulders into the river. ETYMOLOGY: No locally known cave name has been identified for this cave on the banks of the Chibe River. SITUATION: ATTENTION: Estimated coordinates only! At a unexplained location, which lacks GPS position, and lies somewhere in the valley of the Chibe River. PROSPECTS: The cave "survey" (sportsmen standards) indicates four unexplored »pas« (passages) leading off into unknown parts of the cave.

History

EXPLORATION HISTORY: 1995.12.08: Jennifer 'Jenni' or 'Jenny' A. Brooks, Estelle Sandford, Kyrmen 'Hope' C Hiwot Passah and Lindsay B. Diengdoh fully visited, entered and and "surveyed" (sports caver standards) 73 m to a degree yielding a survey length but no cave survey (cave plan) --hence, this was not only »quite a successful day« (BROOKS 1996: 29) but also »quite a productive day« (Brooks, S J in: BROOKS, S J et al 1998: 16).
