Description
A cave entrance gives access to a pothole with shafts and pitches (P17 and P20 or P17 and P26) which once were the only active swallet [note 1] of any significance in this area sinks at the margin into a 17 m deep pot followed by a 26 m drop to a debris and cobbles chokes bedding plane; still draughting but very tight. The other sinks in the locality, Krem Khurisha [deep pot in gryke], and Krem Soh Lyluait [20 m pitch] appear to focus into the same doline 68 m to S/E through abandoned deeply cut open rifts, typically 10 to 15 m deep and often only 1/2 m wide, to abandoned and choked sinks (Sheen 2004.11.06 Mss: Wah Thylliang Swallet). SITUATION: In an unspecified spatial relation below the village of Shnongrim and in a very difficult pinnacle karst terrain (Sheen 2004.11.06) on the eastern flank of the Shnongrim Ridge. APPROACH 1 (Sheen 2003.02.22 Mss: Krem Wah Thylliang): Follow trail down from Shnongrim village. Through pine groves to a location where a good sized streambed sinks int a c15 m deep pot with a further c20 m following on. Expect more pitches! APPROACH 2 (Sheen 2004.11.06 Mss: Wah Thylliang Swallet): Starting at Shnongrim (N25°20'48”: E 092°31'14.2”, ±9 m) walk down the Shaktiman track approx. 400 m to N25°20'47.6”: E092°31'20.7”. Turn East for 150 m through pine woods on a pathway to arrive at a grove and the active Swallet Krem Wah Thylliang on the left [and near] N25°20'46,5”: E092°32'20.3”. CAVE FICTION: Sheen (2003.02.22 Mss: Krem Wah Thylliang): May provide access to the Synrang Labbit - Synrang Ngap system! Sheen (2008.11.07 Mss: Wah Thylliang Swallet.doc) reconfirmes to suspect that the Wah Thylliang Swallet may be worth revisiting as a possible way into Ngap and possibly did not intend to point out possible inroads into an unspecified honey bee but into Krem –>Synrang Ngap, the cave of the apiary. CAVE LIFE: HARRIES et al. (2008 fig 23 i) gives a photograph showing Black Opiliones at cave entrance (Krem Wah Tylliang 2004) forming ggregations. a c15 m deep pot with a further c20 m following on.
