McNally, D 2014.02.26 Mss: 26-02-2014 Krem Rynjong Wamon.docA more or less large pot ca 30 m deep, 4 m wide and 8 m across with a spring of water issuing from a resurgence, 8 m wide and 4 m high on a ledge was understood to resent a resurgence gave with active stream passage immediately dropping into 25 m sink / pot with stream passage (McNally, D 2014.02.26 Mss: 26-02-2014 Krem Rynjong Wamon.doc).The known part of the streamcave passage contains secondary calcite formations (speleothems), including rimstone dams (gours), and features the usual downstream air current which, as usual, is powered by and concurrent with the water flow. ETYMOLOGY: The meaning, origin and history of the cave name recorded for this so-called -krem- (standard Khasi) or, more likely, -krang- (Lakadong Khasi) and cave (English) called Rynjong Wamon (note 1) and Rynsong (note 2) can be interpreted (note 3) but is obscured by the fog pervading a certain abode of clouds. SITUATION: On the Lakadong - Umlatdoh Platau in a setting characterised by unspecified many exokarst features somewhere south of a populated place identified as Lakadong (anonymous Brooks, S J et al. 2014.04.05 Mss: Diary Meghalaya 2014 Second Edit: 25th February, Tuesday). APPROACH modified (hdg 2015.01.12) after McNally, D (2014.02.26 Mss: 26-02-2014 Krem Rynjong Wamon.doc): In case of starting in the north-western corner of Ummat village at what had been in February 2014 the house (N25°11'11.8”: E092°16'00.2”) of Spellmoon Shilliangam (then the village headman), cross what Europeans tend to identify as a case of the footbal pitch (sic!) but, being in India, is a cricket field. Continue east to a path junction (near N25°11'05.9”: E092°16'10.3”) where a person without orientation has to turn right, then left at standing stones (unidentified GPS position) and proceed eastwards to a spring of water with a washing place or washing area (N25°11'01.3”: E092°16'23.1”). Descend from here along a path south (in case of fcing east on the right) to a junction (N25°10'47.9”: E092°16'25.6”). Staying on the right hand (outch), the path crosses a more or less large limestone pinnacle breakdown with a possible cave near N25°10'38.9“: E092°16'25.0” (AA Cave McNally 2014). The path beyond the -pinnacle breakdown- proceeds south and past the cave entrance of Krang Um Krung (N25°10'26.4”: E092°16'29.1”) to a junction (N25°10'13.7”: E092°16'30.0”). Turn south-east (left) and proceed about 400 m and past a point (N25°10'12.3”: E092°16'32.9”) above Krem Muhabon in an easterly direction to the cave entrance of Krem Rynjong Wamon (N25°10'09.3”/E92°16'43.7”) which lies immediately beside and south of the path but only in the case of facing east,on the right (note 4). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2014.12.30: Drillground speak evidences a less advanced state of mental or social development but good enough to say Upstream: Resurgence, 8 m wide and 4m high, on a ledge. Downstream: large pot ca 30 m deep, 4 m ide and 8 m across. The resurgence passage is a highly decorated passage, initially 8 m wide and 4 m high, decreasing in height to 1 m but widening out to 8 m. The floor contains flowsrone and gour dams. Surveyed [in February 2014] for 86 m, ongoing. The Pot is ca 30 m (25 m from ledge at resurgence, 30 m from the top) deep into a large chamber and stream passage below (McNally, D 2014.02.26 Mss: 26-02-2014 Krem Rynjong Wamon.doc). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2014.04.29: Resurgence cave into sink / shaft, aquatic (Arbenz, T 2014.04.29 undated Mss: Cave record overwiev 2_ 2014.xlsx). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2014.04.05: A 25 m deep pot into a large chamber / passage below; at the top of the pot there was an active stream passage resurging and immediately falling into the pot. The resurgence was surveyed for 86 m to a junction in a highly decorated passage with calcite dams along the stream. The cave passage still goes, however the continuation upstream is a wet, max. 1 m high passage with an air current anonymous Cookie, Tudor, Des and Oana in: anonymous Brooks, S J et al. 2014.04.05 Mss: Diary Meghalaya 2014 Second Edit: 25th February, Tuesday). PROSPECTS 2014.12.30: Very good. Upstream: low (1 m) wide and aquatic continuation with draught, Downstream: ca 30 m pitch and stream passage going on very big (McNally, D 2014.02.26 Mss: 26-02-2014 Krem Rynjong Wamon.doc). PROSPECTS 2014.04.29: Big potential (Arbenz, T 2014.04.29 undated Mss: Cave record overwiev 2_ 2014.xlsx). CAVE LIFE: Oana Mirela Chachula and Tudor Tamas or David Cooke and Des McNally noticed on 26th February 2014 the underground presence of crayfish, frogs, crickets (McNally, D 2014.02.26 Mss: 26-02-2014 Krem Rynjong Wamon.doc) in the entrance area of the Upstream (inlet) branch (Crustacea: Decapoda, Orthoptera, Ranida).ide and 8 m across.
