SAFED DARBAGH (Cave at)
35.183300,69.283300
Description
A relatively small cave behind a waterfall (note 1) consists of -short- passage of unknown length (1.5 m wide and high) with a water-covered floor, which leads to a circular chamber (2 m wide and high) and continues in a low, narrow and impenetrable rift. The cave entrance lies in a small ravine (tangi?) and in an escarpment of limestone and serpentine rocks (LINDBERG 1962a: 7 after J.P. Hunger). The water of the torrent rises from a spring further upstream and falls over parts of the cave's entrance. SITUATION: About 7 km (along a road?) north of Golbahar (N35°08': E069°17') and at an unspecified distance south of a village called Safed Darbagh (perhaps near N35°11': E069°17- ±2.5 km), and above the right (north-west) bank of the Panjshir. CAVE LIFE: LINDBERG (1962a: 7) records to have collected Dermaptera, Coleoptera (Carabidae, Hydrophilidae), and Araneidae.A relatively small cave behind a waterfall (note 1) consists of -short- passage of unknown length (1.5 m wide and high) with a water-covered floor, which leads to a circular chamber (2 m wide and high) and continues in a low, narrow and impenetrable rift.
