Description
A vertical cave entrance, somewhat roundish V-shaped and resembling the symbol for a heart in ground plan, is up to an estimated 5 m wide and gives access to a kind of pothole where Brooks (2010.02.18 Mss: Krem Lakham (shaft) 18/2/10) discovered not only the presence of shaft but also created the existence of a leangthwise estimated distance of 13 m. IDENTITY: This caving object is one of initially five or several shafts (note 1) and later another four of which the sight of the entrances had been looked (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 18th February). ETYMOLOGY: The origin and meaning of the recorded cave name -Krem Lakham- (Brooks, S J 2010.02.18 Mss) has not yet been discovered (note 2) but suspected to refer rather to an inadvertently christened Three Fists Cave (note 2) or Three Bridles Cave (note 3) than to a kind of ointment or crème which ought to lack ham (meat from the upper part of a pig's leg salted and dried or smoked). Krem Lakham (Brooks 2010 N25°26'19”: E 92°35'19”: 839 m Thlu Lum Lakham 1 (Brooks 2010) N25°26'18”: E 92°35'27.5” Thlu Lum Lakham 2 (Brooks 2010) N25°26'15.5”: E 92°35'26.0” Thlu Lum Lakham 3 (Brooks 2010) N25°26'14.5”: E 92°35'26.5” (Arbenz, T 2013.11.03 personal correspondence)SITUATION 2010a: Brooks, S J (2010.02.18 Mss: Krem Lakham (shaft) 18/2/10) created a circular reference according to which the cave entrance to Krem Lakham lies in an unspecified Lakham Area which is identified as the area where the Lakham cave is situated, which is named after the Lakham area, which itself is defined as the area where the Lakham cave is located -- and so on and on and on (note 5). SITUATION 2010b: Anonymous et al. (2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 18th February) places the five several shafts collectively to the North West of nowhere special and without identified spatial relation to each other. SITUATION 2010c: Arbenz, T (2010.03.31 cave distribution map: Pala_Ridge_4-10.pdf) indicates the ocation of the entrance to Krem Lakham near N25°26'19”: E092°35'19”: 839 m asl (WGS84) and thus 1009 m in a direct line approximately ENE (464 m north, 896 m east) from the central road junction in the village of Umkyrpong (25°26'04”N: 92°34'47”E). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2010b: Anonymous (prob. Erfan Fekri, undated Mss amendment to Brooks 2010.02.18 Mss:Krem Lakham (shaft) 18/2/10), jotted down with what must have been the bluntest pencil available, caught up insulting with noticing nothing except the irrelevant Depth 13 m as if it were size that matters. History
EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2010.02.18: Hesrowin Lamurong and Koles Lamare guided Simon J. Brooks, Ksan Kupar 'Ronnie' Mawlong and Erfan Fekri to the offhand created but unspecified Sintung Area to the North West of [nowhere special] for reconnaissance. Several shafts were located including Krem Sintung [sic!] 1 and 2, Krem Lakham and Krem Lumlakham 1 and 2 (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 18th February). Arbenz, T (2012.07.20 undated Meghalaya cave record ”Krem Lum Lakham 2” in: XSObjectsPala.doc) suggests 13 m shaft no way on. Descended by B.Hall but Bridget Hall had joined on 18th February 2010 forces with Cookie and Sarah to push an upstream lead in Dienjem [Krem ], Fee Fi Fo Fum Passage (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 18th February).
