Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 30/03/2016

There is an apparently »narrow« but otherwise unspecified cave called »Krem Khim Myrsiang« (Monris Nongtdu 1998.02.26 personal communication). SITUATION: At an unspecified location somewhere on the Shnongrim Ridge. ETYMOLOGY: The Khasi adjective "khim" means »narrow« (SINGH, N 1906: 32) and "u myrsiang" is one of the Khasi words for »a jackal, a fox« (SINGH, N 1906: 186; SINGH, N 1920: 191, 275; BLAH, E 2007: 110, 156). Such a Narrow Cave of the Jackal suggests the existence of a complementary ample, broad, extended, flar, capacious, open, shallow, or wide if not fat, plump or stout Fox Cave (note 1). Alternatively a "ka krem ki myrsiang" or »the cave [of] these jackals or foxes« might have been meant.
