The first Treasure Cave on Koh-i Pao (note 1), a solutional cave in Chiltan Limestone, which contained (October 2000) a 2 m deep man-made pit (note 2) sunken into a kind of sedimentary infilling: A 4 m wide and 1.5 m high entrance leads to a cave passage (1 m by 1.2 m) that terminates in a small chamber containing a blind 2 m aven and a 2 m deep, excavated pit [note 3]. There are minimal prospects for further exploration (Brooks, S J 1997 Mss: Pakistan Cave Database). SITUATION: From beneath the triangular entrance to –>Pao Cave 1 (also: Maraan Ghar Ghara) follow the foot of the mountain to the SSW (south-southwest). After the third master gully a 4th smaller gully is reached. The cave entrance is easily visible from this point. EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2000.10.10: Wali 'Walo / Wallo' Mohammad Achakzai made a cursory visited. 2000.10.11: Wali 'Wallo' Mohammad Achakzai, Tom Chapman, Noor 'Noro' Mohammad Khilji, Anthony Revell and Habibullah Khan Saddiozai fully visited, explored and claimed to have 'surveyed' a meterage of 11.9 m but did not attempt to arrive at cave plan.
