Description
A fast and effectively recorded 2 m x 1 m shaft top c. 25 m deep declared Brown (2007.02.09 Mss: Moonrise 2) to represent pothole cave entrance abandoned by flowing water (note 1). ETYMOLOGY: No autochthonous, locally known or communicable name has been identified for this pothole cave entrance which Brown (2007.02.09 Mss: Moonrise 2) simply did away with nicknaming it Moonrise 2 without any cause whatsoever. SITUATION: Arbenz, T (2009.06.21 personal correspondence: re Muhnraiz Tuh) tells me that Moonrise Cave 2 (Brown 2007) and –>Big Bird Cave are -practically- at the same place (this is believed to explain the identical entrance coordinates) and are -in reality- perhaps 30 m apart from each other. Moonrise 1, however, lies quite far away from both of these caves and it remains inexplicable why Mark W. Brown nicknamed both of these two quite distinct caves Monnrise Cave. They have obviously nothing in common (note 2). On top of that, Brown (2007.02.09 Mss) clearly explains that the etrance to Moorise Cave 2 lies not only precisely somewhere in the vicinity of the village of Lelad but also precisely in one way or another somehow near (sic!) to it. POSITION 2007: At an estimated distance of 70 m from the cave entrance and along a line without any specified bearing combined with an ignored gradient, Mark W. Brown recorded the GPS position N25°18'09.0”: E092°29'31.4- (±4.6 m, WGS84, M.W. Brown 2007.02.09): 1079 m asl (GPS Garmin 12). APPROACH: Brown (2007.02.09 Mss: Mihbnai 2): From GPS point follow either of the nearby streambeds which converge in a bamboo / tree thicket c. 70 m. A bouldery sink (blocked) is found. Continue 10 m W to the head of a circa 25 m shaft. CAVE CLIMATE: At an unspecified hour on 10th or 13th February 2006 observed Brown (2006.02.13 Mss) an ouward air current and recorded warm, moist air draughting out today. CAVE LIFE: Diplopoda (Myriapoda) seem to be present as Brown (2006.02.13 Mss) recorded millipeds.trance to Moorise Cave 2 lies not only precisely somewhere in the vicinity of the village of Lelad but also precisely in one way or another somehow near (sic!) to it.
