Description
A relatively »very large pot 40 x 30 x 15 deep, free climbable but with no passage at bottom« (Chapman, T 1999.02.13 Mss). ETYMOLOGY: No autochthonous, indigenous or locally known name has been identified for a relatively »very large pot« (Chapman 1999.02.13) named after what Tom Chapman understood as »Area called Pamsaru« but not as Killing Fields (note 1). SETTING: »Lots of interesting karst scenery in jungle in this area and towards Umlong« (note 2). POSITION near (unidentified precision error) »@ N 25 10’27.3” E 092 19’32.0”« (Chapman, T 1999.02.13 GPS Garmin 12).

"sa" (Khasi; word) 1. sign of »future tense, denoting contingency« as in ”nga'n sa leit ynda lah bam ja” (SINGH, N 1906: 179); 2. used as an adverb with verbs in the past tense as in ”ynda kumta u sa leit noh” (SINGH, N 1906: 179); 3. »in the absence of any other better alternative« as in ”nga shu pdiang katba u ai namar ba ngam ioh sa” (SINGH, N 1906: 179). The ending »…ru« (Chapman 1999.02.13 Mss) as such is difficult to reconstruct as there are no Khasi words ending with the letter "u" but we have "ka rew" (Khasi; noun), short for ”ka rew-ngap” (SINGH, N 1920: 79) or ”ka 'rewngap” (BLAH, E 2007: 135), »a honeycomb« (SINGH, N 1906: 172). "ba rew" (Khasi; adjective), said of wood only, »brittle; weak« (SINGH, N 1906: 172). "ka 'riew" (Khasi; noun, feminine), 1. a contraction of ”ka briew” (SINGH, N 1906: 173) »a person« (SINGH, N 1906: 173); »a woman« (SINGH, N 1906: 14); 2. a contraction of ”ka shriew” (SINGH, N 1906: 173), »an arum root« (SINGH, N 1906: 173)."u 'riew" (Khasi; noun, masculine), a contraction of ”u briew” (SINGH, N 1906: 173), »a person« (SINGH, N 1906: 14); »a man« (SINGH, N 1906: 14). "ki 'riew" (Khasi; noun, plural), a contraction of ”ki briew” (SINGH, N 1906: 173), »the people« (SINGH, N 1906: 14). "i riew" (Khasi; noun, diminuitive / honorific), short for ”i khmat briew” (SINGH, N 1906: 14), »the apple of the eye« (SINGH, N 1906: 14). "riew" (Khasi; verb) »to give a sound; to produce a sound« (SINGH, N 1906: 173).NOTE 2: »Um Long« (Jarratt 2001.11.12 Mss) is indicated as »Umlong« on the Survey of India Half-Inch series sheet 83-C/SW (edition 1922) near (±500 m) 25°10'06”N: 92°19'43”E (WGS84) modified from 25°10'04”N: 92°19'53”E (Everest 1830). Antony 'Tony' Boycott had recorded for Umlong a GPS position near (unidentified precision error) 25°10'20.7”N: 92°20'10.2”E (WGS84, Boycott A, undated 1999 GPS Garmin 12XL) and only 850 m in a direct line ENE from the approximate (±500 m) toposheet position.
