Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

One of a group of three potholes without identified shape and dimensions, which are collectively called Krem Skap and all look like dropping estimated 20 m to a base of what appears to be mud (Sheen 2003.02.28 Mss: Krem Skap / Krem Mulieh). ETYMOLOGY: The Khasi -u skap- is a husk (SINGH, N 1906: 185). SITUATION: According to Robin F. Sheen (2003.02.22 Mss: Krem Skap / Krem Mulieh), the cave entrance to first Krem Skap lies not only in an unexplainable location but also in an unidentified spatial relation to the other caves called Krem Skap but also to (the same?) nearby caves called Krem –>Moulieh (Brooks 2004), Krem –>Muhlieh (Brooks 2005), Krem –>Mulieh (Jarratt 2004), and Krem –>Muhlieh (Sheen 2003).According to the disputable GPS position, which had been recorded without identified horizontal precision error, the first Krem Skap lies somewhere on the eastern flank of the Shnongrim ridge (on the Lum Manar? spur).

History

EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2003.02.22: Raplang Shangpliang guided Robin Sheen to the entrance of Krem Skap (Sheen 2003.02.22 Mss: Meghalaya Cave Record 28/02/03). 2007.02.21: Neil Pacey … borrowed Quentin’s GPS, walked back [from Krem –>Labit Moolesngi 3] … to Shnongrim and found three shafts that could be Krem skap 1, 2 and 3 (Brooks, S J et al. 2007.03.01 Mss: Diary2007.doc: Wed 21st Feb). According to JARRATT & DAWSON (2007), Neil … located a rift passage and three shafts on the walk back to camp. The latter may have been Krem Skap 1,2 and 3. Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018
