Description
An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified shape, unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation, unidentified characteristics) is said to give access to a certain Krem Blang, (a.k.a. Krem Remblang) a relic cave (Anonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary, entry for Sunday 19th February 2012). ETYMOLOGY: The Khasi cave name -Krem Blang- seems to translate as Cave [of the] Goat or Goat Cave (note 1) and -Krem Rangblang- is a Cave [of the] He-goat or Billy-Goat Cave (note 2). The strange interpretation Krem Remblang (AKA Blang) (Anonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary, entries for Sunday 19th February 2012, Tuesday 21st February 2012) may have been inadvertently created as the Khasi -remblang- would be the word for a defeated, guilty or offended goat, and, last but not least, [my] dear goat regarded with deep affection; cherished by someone (note 3). SITUATION: In an unknown setting -- probably in the Umngi (Um Ngi) river basin -- and in an unidentified locaton, which was understood to lie at an estimated walking distance of just over an hour to the North East from a certain Jyllang Village (note 4) and not only somewhere above a possibly off-hand created tributary valley (The Remblang Area) -- which flows in an unidentified direction to join an unidentified bank of an unidentified river -- but also in unidentified spatial relations to the other three cave entrances (Krem –>Blang a.k.a Remblang; Krem –>Dum, Krem –>Um, Jylliang No. 1, the spring, and Krem –>Um, Jylliang No. 2, the sink) in the same vicinity. An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified shape, unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation, unidentified characteristics) is said to give access to a certain Krem Blang, (a.k.a. EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2012.02.19: The three drivers Kyrshan Thabah, Bolk Syntiew, and Devel Mawlong drive not only the two guides called PlantonIawrod (or so) and Harel Syiemleh (both from an unidentified populated place) and the two police officers Martin Marak and Sylvester Pataw (Meghalaya Police) but also the February 2012 whole team (note 5) after breakfast in a certain Dangar Village (or so) along some very rough roads and tracks … via Charikata Village to Jyllang Village. Here they walk for just over an hour to the North East of the village to reach a tributary valley (The Remblang Area) (Anonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary). Only then, at least some of the outsiders by and by became aware that the interesting tributary valley (The Remblang Area) had been, of course, very well known to all the people, which were familiar with the area, to contain four caves, [namely] Krem Um (a resurgence), Krem Blang, (a.k.a. Krem Remblang) a relic cave, Krem Dom [sic! qua: Krm –>Dum, Jylliang] another relic cave and above a dry waterfall, Krem Um Sink which may connect to Krem Um (Anonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary). 2012.02.19, trip 1, PlantonIawrod and Harel Syiemleh guide Hiamdor Rapsang, Simon J. Brooks, Sharareh 'Shary' Ghazy, Pedro Silva Pinto, Helen Blyth, Kyle Wayne Baker, Ryan P. Baker, Andre Abele, and Martin Marak: The remainder of the team Simon, Shary, Pedro, Helen, Ryan, Kyle, Andre, Martin Marik [sic!], Rapsang and the two guides are then taken and shown Krem Blang Entrance, Krem Dom Entrance and the nearby Krem Um Sink. JP later visits Krem Blang and reports that it is rather more extensive than its original appearance would suggest (Anonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary). 2012.02.21, trip 2, Georg Bäumler, Sharareh 'Shary' Ghazy, and Jean-Pierre Bartholeyns: Krem Remblang (AKA Blang) – After completing the survey of Krem Dom, Georg, JP and Shary then went to Krem Remblang where they surveyed 131.9 m (Anonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary).
