Description
Certain undergrounds below ruins of Mandu, BROSSET (1962c: 602), some 60 km approximately south-west of Indore (BROSSET 1961: 421) are the home of bats (Chiroptera). CAVE LIFE: BROSSET (1961: 421) … observé des Rhinopomes dans les ruines de Mandou, à 60 km au sud-ouest d'Indore. BROSSET (1962a: 11): Rousettus leschenaulti Desmarest 1820 (Fulveous fruit bat) in February (1960 or 1961?) at Mandu several colonies (estimated 1000 to 2000 indivuals) in the mosque and ruins of the destroyed capital. BROSSET (1962a: 14): Rousettus leschenaulti Desmarest 1820 associates at Mandu with Tadarida aegyptica, Hipposideros lankadiva, and Taphozous melanopogon. BROSSET (1962c: 604): Rhinolophus lepidus Blyth 1844, on 20 February 1961 about 60 individuals were observed in complete hibernation and a cluster of 18 Rhinolophus lepidus, all deeply hibernating, was observed and photographed somewhere at Mandu (either –>Champa Baoli, –>Mandu 'Caves' or Mandu Undergrounds).
