Description
(Middle Atlas, Merghaoua, Chara) Co-ordinates: X606,21 Y373,05 (map 1:50,000 Merghaoua). Alt. 1,200 m. Underground river explored in 1962-1963 by Chatelain and Matthieu, by the SC Périgeux in 1964-1965 and by the SC Aix-en-Provence in 1967. The huge river passage is blocked by several large breakdowns. Length according to Cahzuac (1988). Lips (1998) reported a length of more than 10 km. Survey according to Tennevin (1974). Important note: the map published in Glanville (1981) differs significantly!
