Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

Two cave entrances in the bottom of a doline (40 m wide, 10 m deep) give access to two levels of a labyrinthine and partly wet cave. This cave is one of the sinks draining the –>Waikutaran (Kutabram) Depression and therefore suspected to represent the upper reaches of –>Rongbaljong Rongkol. SITUATION: Somewhere off a path (or track?) from the village of Chibak to –>Dewban Chiring. CAVE DESCRIPTION (after Jantschke 18.2.03 Mss: Fahrtenbericht Indien 2003): Late in the afternoon we deviate once more from the way back from Dewbang Chiring to Chibak and struggle through jungle to Daniang Kol, a double storeyed, labyrinthine water cave with large dimensions, of which the entrance lies in a 40 m large and 10 m deep doline. There is a secnd entrance to the cave which probably represents a headward part of Rongbaljong. In the short time left we do not finish the survey and quite after 147 m. The passage length is probably twice as long but not all parts of the cave were examined. PROSPECTS: Te chances to find unexplored passages in this cave are obviously ranging between good and excellent since surveying was cancelled at one stage simply due to lack of time.
