KALHATTI FALLS: TEMPLE BETWEEN ROCKS
13.046100,75.789400
Description
What appears to represent a marginally subterranean temple (no name mentioned, perhaps: Kalahatti Kovil or Kalahasti Koil), which is constructed in a gap between rocks and of a dubious nature and character (ranging somewhere on a scale between modified natural and almost entirely man-made, is advertised from an unspecified location somewhere near the Kalahatti Falls (Kalahatti Giri 6151 feet N13°30': E75°46'30-: 1875 m asl) in the Baba Budan Hills (N13°30': E75°45'). EVALUATION: Kalhatti Falls: Also known as Kalahasti Falls. The water here cascades down a height of 122 m. All around the place are fascinating scenic delights. This picturesque spot is 10 kms from Kemmanugundi [N13°33': E75°45']. There is also a local temple here, constructed in a gap between rocks. A Jatra [yatra] is held here for three days every year and attracts pilgrims from far and near (reckonindia.com/tourism/hill_stations_of_india.asp accessed 2006.06.29).
