Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 27/04/2016

An estimated 30 m wide and 20 m deep collapse doline was understood to double up as a fitness training device which allows to exercise wriggling between boulders in the SW and NE part where efforts of twisting and turning with writhing movements eventually lead to »ends« in the face of impenetrable continuations. ETYMOLOGY: The meaning and origin of the cave name »Nara« (note 1) remains fully unexplored (Jarratt, Anthony 'Tony' R & Boycott, Antony 'Tony' 1999.02.09 personal communication) but may have been produced from whatever had been available (note 2) but the Synteng Khasi (Pnar) "u thloo" or "u thlu" is the same as the standard Khasi "u thliew" (note 3). SITUATION: At walking distance of 200 m along a track from the –>Shanty Shaft to Krem –>Diengiong, Mutang. CAVE CLIMATE: Antony 'Tony' Boycott and Anthony 'Tony' R Jarratt attempted to practise aeromantic divination but noticed on 9th February 1999 at an unspecified time no air draught between the boulders of Thloo Nara.
