Description
No fabulous "hole" or cave as such has been mentioned in connection with the path taken by the immaterial remains of the dead people from the villages of »Waking« and »Walching« or Wakching and Wanching (note 1) above the river Dikhu via Chingtang (note 2) and past the villages of Chinglong (note 3) and Chongwe (note 4) to Choha (note 5) where it finally goes underground (FÜRER HAIMENDORF 1939a: 89).
NOTE 1: »Walching« and »Waking« and (FÜRER HAIMENDORF 1939a: 89) seem to be the villages indicated as »Walching« in the India Road Atlas (Eicher Goodearth 2006: 30 D4) in the Mon district, but as Wakching (±1 km N26°41'50”: E094°53'20” WGS84) and Wanching (±1 km N26°39'40”: E094°50'50” WGS84) on the AMS sheet NG46-08 Sibsagar (U542 series, 1955 edition) above the eastern (orographically right) bank of the Dikhu and about 45 km in a direct line approximately south-east from Sibsagar (N26°59'24”: E094°37'48” unspecified geodetic datum possibly WGS84, AMBRASEYS & BILHAM 2003: 30). NOTE 2: Chingtang (±1 km) N26°49'15”: E094°54'20” (AMS sheet NG46-08 Sibsagar, U542 series, 1955 edition). NOTE 3: Chinglong (±1 km) N26°37'30”: E094°55'20” (AMS sheet NG46-08 Sibsagar, U542 series, 1955 edition).
