Description
A cave or rock shelter with rock art (drawings in red pigment) is situated near Shajganj (N24°42': E082°57': 311 m asl, Survey of India sheet 63-L/14). This archaeologically relevant site yielded more than one-thousand agate and other implements in addition to a number of haematite pieces, pottery and charred and split bones. COCKBURN (1883b: 126) calls the item both »Sorhow Cave« and »Sorhow Ghat Cave.« COCKBURN (1894b: 24) reports agate flakes from Sorhow Cave in »South Mirzapore« (Mizapur). Possibly identical with –>Sarewa Cave (Serwa Cave).
