NOTE 1: »Mahudi Hill« (IMPERIAL GAZETTEER 1907-1909, 17: 26) is the »Mahuda 2407« (734 m asl) near 24°12'N: 85°12'E on AMS sheet NG45-13 Gaya (U502 series, 1962 edition) at a spot 28.5 km in a direct line approximately north-west from Hazaribagh (23°59'N: 85°21'E) and about 68 km in a direct line approximately south-southeast from Gaya (24°47'N: 85°00'E). NOTE 2: »Hazaribagh Plateau« and »Hazaribagh National Park« is shown on the India Road Atlas (Eicher Goodearth 2006) maps 58 D3 and 59 E3 adjacent east of the »Korambe Plateau« and »Lawalong Wildlife Sanctuary« (Chatra district).

Four »rock cut temples« (man-made rock chambers used for religious purposes and exploited as sort of a pious show cave) are situated near the summit of Mahudi hill (note 1), which rises at a distance of about »eight miles« (12 km) from the southern face of the Hazaribagh (note 2) plateau..IMPERIAL GAZETTEER 1907-1909, 13: 89): »Hazaribagh District.— … remains worthy of mention are four rock temples on Mahudi Hill, one of which bears the date 1740 Samvat …« IMPERIAL GAZETTEER (1907-1909, 17: 26): »Mahudi Hill.— The hill is 2,437 feet [about 740 m] above the sea, falling steeply on every side for 800 feet [250 m]. Four rock-cut temples are situated on the summit.«
