A cave entrance with no specified shape and dimensions, which faces an unspecified direction, gives access to an estimated 50 m long porcupine cave that does not inspire each and every veterinary surgeon to venture underground. ETYMOLOGY: No locally known name has been identified for Cave no. 15 (note 1). In Garo, the Indian porcupine (Hystrix indica Kerr) is called ”okupu, matmachi, pebok” and the Himalayan crestless porcupine (Hystrix brachyura) -okubu, kime nogri” (MADHUSUDAN, M D, s.a. circa 2005: Wildlife distribution and hunting, South Garo Hills.- on samrakshan.org (accessed 2008.07.09). SITUATION: According to Harper (2008.02.08 Mss: Cave no. 15), a local guide [is] essential to explain the whereabouts of Cave no. 15 as it was understood to lie at an unexplainable location somewhere near Asakgre. According to the recorded GPS position (note 2), this porcupine cave lies in the Chibanda area, approximately 300 m south of the three anonymous caves numbered 12, 13, and 14, and at inear distances of 450 m south-west from Dangedkol (N25°21'37.0”: E090°31'28.5” WGS84) and 420 m west-northwest from Chiningkrikol (N25°21'22.3-: E090°31'32.5- WGS84). CAVE DESCRIPTION (Harper, R 2008.02.08 Mss: Cave no. 15): Fully unidentified characteristics and unspecified peculiarties were observed in this allegedly uninspiring cave approximately 50 m in length. CAVE LIFE: According to Keith Anderson (in: Harper, R 2008.02.08 Mss: Cave no. 15), who is the only of all living persons who is known to have entered this cave on 8th February 2008, a porcupine (Rodentia: Hystricidae: Hystrix indet.) resided in this cave.inear distances of 450 m south-west from Dangedkol (N25°21'37.0”: E090°31'28.5” WGS84) and 420 m west-northwest from Chiningkrikol (N25°21'22.3-: E090°31'32.5- WGS84).
