Location
Access to the cave requires some time and is best accomplished by a 1.5 hour tractor ride on a rough untarred road from Ban Xiangmen to Ban Na, followed by a 15 min walk to Ban Peo. The cave is located right at the foot of the mountain behind the village [5158] Map sheet: E48-001 Methode: from map
Description
DREYBRODT JOERG informations
Cave description: ? Citation: ? Analysis: [5158]: The cave has a very narrow entrance squeeze of about 20-25 cm width. Only slim people are able to pass the squeeze, which leads to the first chamber. From here a wet passage with active rimstone pools continues into the mountain (note: the cave map is simply a sketch drawn without a compass and does not necessarily reflect the correct direction). Many cave pearls can be found on the floor. The air quality was bad (probably CO2). We returned to open passage as the guides from the village insisted that we leave the cave >> survey >> shown on map [5448] only shown on map Equipment: The air quality is bad (probably CO2) [5158] Remarks:No. 3 in map Jörg Dreybrodt References: [4846]: Dreybrodt, J. & Laumanns, M. 2003: Der unbekannte Norden von Laos - Ergebnisse eines Erkundungsprojekts. The elephant died close to the village and was overgrown in time by a mountain. The narrow entrance squeeze is nothing more than the anus of the dead elephant [5158] Explo history: --24.12.2003 explored and estimated to 45 m by W. Zillig /German Lao Speleological Project 2003/2004 [5158]
