Description
An »insignificant earthy hole« at an unidentified location somewhere in the vicinity of Mussoorie gives access to an estimated 43 m of rift cave passages. Glennie (1939 Mss: Preliminery [sic!] report…" sheet 3, item 4) recommends to »Enter through an insignificant earthy hole. Thence North about 10 feet [3 m] and then 12 feet [4 m] down reaches a long low passage about 4 feet [1.2 m] high which leads in about 100 feet [30 m] to an inverted -L rift chamber. At the entrance to the rift a crack about 15 feet [4.5 m] long and 12 inches [0.3 m] wide. Access to this passage defeats most people. The trick being to climb 20 feet [6 m] up to the roof and proceed along the angle of the inverted-L of which the 6 inch crack is part and then drop down at the turn. In this cave is a fine flow of milky white calcite« (speleothem). SITUATION: At an unidentified location somewhere in the vicinity of Mussoorie (N30°27': E078°05': 2000 m asl).
