Description
NOTE 1: »Sarangarh« (CHADHA 1992: 14) is not identified as it is neither marked on AMS sheet NI43-10 Punch (U502 series, 1960 edition) nor on the India Road Atlas (Eicher Goodearth 2006: 2 B4). nima.mil/geonames (accessed 16.11.2003) positions a place called »Saran« near N33°50'10”: E074°19' (WGS84) but this lies about 100 km NNW distant from Riasi / Reasi (N33°05': E74°50').NOTE 2: The Farsi / Persian "sar" means »head« and translates into »summit, peak; source, head of a stream or river« while the Pashtu "surakh" means »aperture« and the Sanskrit "suranga" is a »cave.«
A noteworthy karst spring reports CHADHA (1992: 14) from a place called »Sarangarh« (note 1) or, perhaps, Saran Ghar / Sarang Ghar (note 2) at N33°38': E074°54'15” (most likely Everest 1830) thus at a distance of about 63 km in a direct line north of Riasi / Reasi (N33°05': E74°50').
