Description
An unspecified cave entrance is said to lead to a cave called »Krem Mawkhymlong« (Langspah Rynkhun 1997 March 22 personal communication)SITUATION: In an unknown setting at an unidentified location somewhere near the road from Nongjri Bazar (N25°10'45": E091°48'18": ca. 40 m asl WGS84) generally westwards to Krem –>Lymput (N25°10'35”: E091°47'10” WGS84) and thus in the same spatial relation as Krem –>Mawkanong, which may be the same cave. ETYMOLOGY: In case the War (Khasi) word "khymlong" is a contraction of "dokha ym long" the cave name "Krem Maw Khymlong" would translate into something along the lines of a »is no fish rock's cave« (note 1).
NOTE 1: The standard Khasi "ka 'kha" (noun) is an abbreviated form of "ka dohkha" and means »a fish« (SINGH, N 1906: 24), the ”ym” (adverb) »not« (SINGH, N 1906: 246), and ”long” (verb) »is; to exist; to become« (SINGH, N 1906: 118).
