Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 07/05/2016

The suspicious place name »Ramkhoh« (gorge or cave of Ram) has been associated with economically exploitable limestone occurrences in »Shahbad district« (now in Rohtas district): »Ramkho area.-- This area is located 500 m west of Hariara [Jadunathpur, N24°32': E083°36']. There are four bands of limestone 7.1, 10.5, 3.0 and 1.5 m thick within a section of 39 m. Fourteen analyses show CaO from 42.81 to 49.82%. Thirty more analyses show CaO from 37.46 to 45%, MgO from 0.81 to 2.94%, and insolubles from 13.4 to 26.78%« (PRASAD RAO et al. 1965: 68).
