Description
Three painted rock-shelters (Indian Archaeology: A Review [IAR] 1980-81 / 1983: 36) or, perhaps, entrance areas of true caves. IDENTITY: Compare the painted –>Idgah rock shelters. SITUATION: Allegedly in the mid-ghat (22°29'N: 77°39'E), District Sehore (Indian Archaeology: A Review [IAR] 1980-81 / 1983: 37) but the position near 22°29'N: 77°39'E (IAR 1980-81 / 1983: 37) is eroneous because it indicates a spot which lies about 100 km approximately south-east of Sehore (23°12'N: 077°05'E), in the Hoshangabad district, and in the Satpura Range.CULTURAL HISTORY -- rock art: The paintings depict human figures with sword, bow and arrow, kanwar and hanging pots. These are painted in white and Indian red colour (burnt sienna), while some others are in yellow ochre with outlines of Indian red colour pigment (Indian Archaeology: A Review [IAR] 1980-81 / 1983: 37).
