Description
A relatively »big cave« had been reported to B D Kharpran Daly (1997 Mss item 3) but a closer look revealed a fallen sandstone boulder resting on smaller rocks. The three cave "entrances" (gaps) give access to about 5 m of hands and knees crawl across soil and decaying leaves in twilight. ETYMOLOGY: The cave name "Krem Blang" seems to be well chosen as the Khasi noun "blang" is the word for a »goat« (SINGH, N 1906: 13) and the cave is just about spacious enough to allow a tired goat to retreat from onlookers. The Khasi adjective "kyrnot" means »hard, stubborn, lasting« (SINGH, N 1906: 61). SITUATION: Close to the village of Mawkyrnot, which lies a few kilometres along the road from Pynursla (N25°18'30”: E092°54') to Nongjri (N25°11'30”: E091°47'30”).
