Doon View Cave 2

A south-southwest facing cave entrance (2.5 m wide and 2 m high) on the northern side of the road from Mussoorie to Dehra Dun gives access to some 10 meters of passage that arrive, slightly descending, from the north-northeast. CAVE DESCRIPTION: The south-southwest facing cave entrance (2.5 m wide and 2 m high) to the cave is visible from the road to Dehra Dun and characterized by a heap of debris fallen from the hillside above. The 10 m long main passage widens and reaches, some 6 m fro the entrance, a 5 m high chamber formed where a NW-SE trending crack cuts across the main passage at right angles and results in lateral rift passages that soon close down. It is interesting to note that the walls of the rift, contrary to the other walls of the cave, expose conglomerate (after Scherzer 1991.11 Mss). CAVE LIFE: Mosses and ferns flourish not only in the entrance area but also on rock surfaces facing the cave entrance.
