ETYMOLOGY: It may have been Daphyrnai Sariang from Umkyrpong, then acting as a guide, who had said on 5th February 2015 either -mynkrem- (standard Khasi), a caver (note 1) or -mynkrem- (Synteng Khasi (Pnar), literally: hole water (note 2) in the sense of a source or spring of water. Somebody achieved put the cart before the horse, reversed the original cave water and ended up with a Water Cave (Anonymous [Arbenz T, Brooks S J et al.] 2015.04.03 Mss: Diary 2015.docx 5th February 2015 Thursday).SITUATION 2015.02.05: Unknown. Mukhim and Oana Mirela Chachula from Umkyrpong to the west, starting at the village end of the bridge [note 3], to find new caves. … they located Mynkrem, the Water Cave.
