Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 15/07/2016

Two cave entrances give access to some 120 m of cave passage (on average 10 m broad and high) described in Polish language by LISIECKI (1986: 49-53, with cave plan). ETYMOLOGY: No autochthonous, indigenous or locally known name has been identified for what has been christened »Bhoome Guffa« (LISIECKI 1986). Little doubt remains that "bhoome" is a version of the Nepali "bhumi" (earth, soil, ground, surface) from the Sanskrit "bhumi" (earth, mud). SITUATION: In Myagdi Khola at a short distance upstream from Kusma (N28°13'00”: E083°40'50”) on the trail north-west towards Baglung (N28°16'00”: E083°36'30”), and in the vicinity of a place indicated as »Pang« (LISIECKI 1986 location sketch) at a spot where the village of »Chharkarke« is shown near (±500) N28°13'55”: E083°40'05” on the Central Service map 44 Parbat (1989 edition).
