Description
Brief description
A (fictious?) subterranean hide-out and temple cave sacred to Muslims, and complete with fabulous tunnels, reported MAHOMET (1794: letter XXXIV= 34) from somewhere in the vicinity of Jouanpour (note 1) at a place where a spacious chapel much frequented by the Mahometans, under which is a subterraneous cavern extending a considerable length of way. It is a fort or arsenal, and serves as an asylum for the natives [note 2] in time of war, as the entrance to it, is only known to themselves.
