An inhabitable but otherwise unspecified cave (no name mentioned) had been used by the 1862 warriors as a hide-out somewhere at (near? east of?) Shangpung (note 1). CULTURAL HISTORY - human use (hide-out): BAREH (1967 edited 1997: 169): According to a tradition, U Giri Daloi was shot dead by the military officers from an opposite peak facing the Umiurem river [note 2]. Before he died, the Durbar was held at the Shangpung cave … CAVE POTENTIAL: Also somewhere at (or near) Shangpung, there is also one (the same?)
