Having re-crossed a certain »Pass of the Devil« (note 1) and »threading the track down the lower slopes on the Nepalese side of the [Singalila] ridge« through rhododendrons, WADDELL (1899a: 426) »… spent a night in the shallow cave of Nego [note 2] (13,170 ft.). It was little more than an overhanging ledge of rock, and could have afforded scant shelter from rain.«
