Description
The exsurgence (Python Cave) of Mandhip Khol arrives via 120 m of cave passage from a sump which is strongly suspected to connect underwater to the downstream sump of Mandhip Khol (dry). SITUATION: At a linear distance of 174 m due south from the Ingresso Superiore (upper cave entrance) of Mandhip Khol (N21°40'24.16”: E080°54'08.76”: 528 m asl). According to the recorded GPS positions (Ruggieri 2008.04.12 Mss: Geol. map Raj Nandgaon), the entrance to Python Cave (WGS84 N21°40'17.80”: E080°54'08.5: 511 m asl) and resurgence of Mandhip Khol lies about 210.5 m in a direct line due south (-210 m north and -8.4 m east) from the Ingresso Superiore (upper cave entrance) of Mandhip Khol (N21°40'24.16”: E080°54'08.76”: 528 m asl). Dr. Jayant Biswas (Cave-biology.org, accessed 2007.04.04) had estimated that the entrance to the Python Cave lies almost more than a kilometre from the entrance to the –>Mandhip Khol (dry). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2007: A cave entrance submerged into water (wet pening) … (Dr. Jayant Biswas (Cave-biology.org, accessed 2007.04.04). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2008: Ruggieri (2008.02.08 Mss) told me about a small stream (no name mentioned) emerging at the head of a valley (no name mentioned) from a (south-facing?) entrance (no shape or dimensions) leading to a wet part of Mandhip Khol where an about 120 m long passage arrives from a sump which very likely is the opposite side of the downstream sump in dry part of Mandhip Khol (note 1).pening) … (Dr. Jayant Biswas (Cave-biology.org, accessed 2007.04.04).
