Location
Cave Sua Kaeo is located some 50km south of Chumphon town. Take Highway 41 for about 35km til you reach a junction, you will see a large PTT LPG station on the right slightly further on. Turn right and take this road for 15km. There is one T junction on this road, where you must make a right. When you get to Ban Khao Lan the entrance to the Wat is on the left. This track takes you straight to the cave entrance which is at the back of Wat.
Description
The cave is within a small hill and was once a through cave with a stream. We found it totally dry and as you can see below the Monks have installed concrete pipes to convey any water. Access to the cave is no more than 10 steps down and there are no difficult sections to climb (flat sandy stream bed). It was a nice easy walk. We were able to walk right through the cave to where it emerges the other side of the hill, about 50m in length. There is no lighting installed in the cave so bring a good torch. There's a lot to explore for we found many small side passages. A large colony of bats were found in the cave.
