Saint Mary's Grotto

Description
A man-made Christian grotto, shaped like an apse (letter U-shaped in ground plan and with a semicircular domed roof) and about 1 m wide, high and deep, is erected in front of the colourful church in the village of Umlangmar, which lies at kilometre 19 on the road from Mawphlang (note 1) generally WSW and about 4 km short of and ENE of Weiloi (N25°21'44”: E091°36'45” WGS84). The grotto faces away from the church (towards the road) and overlooks the meeting ground in front of the church.

EXPLORATION HISTORY: 1999.03.14: H. D. Gebauer, driven by in a car (a road vehicle with four wheels, powered by an internal combustion engine and able to carry an astonishing number of people), caught a glance of the erected structure representing an artificial Christian temple cave.
