Description

Martin Ellis - 16/06/2019

The main entrance to the cave is a gently sloping passage with steps leading down into a reasonable sized chamber. The entrance has the message in Thai: "Saowapha Cave. Rama V came down here 5th July Royal Era 111 (1892)" The passage continues ahead down more steps to a flowstone constriction. This may be climbed over to gain access to a small decorated chamber. A passage leading off to the right in the first chamber leads to another small chamber with two blind passages leading off. The survey suggests this to be just above sea level. Two higher entrances drop into the roof of the main passage. the cave is used regularly by monks for meditation.
