Fil Khana 5: upper Niche

A rude, square niche, perhaps about 15 or 20 feet high [4.5 or 6m], with openings to the south and west, so that the figure, which, from the height of the niche, I suppose to have been a standing one, could have been seen from the two sides. The niche presents no architectural features, unless it be that of the trefoil arch, so peculiar to the trans-Indus structures, and this was so very rudely done, that the intention of the maker might pass unnoticed [SIMPSON 1882: 327]. SITUATION: Above the Fil Khana Tope, which itself lies above the Fil Khana caves nos. 1 to 4.
