Description
The suspicious place name Udyar (udhyar = cave, shelter) mentions ARYA (1992: 104, 106, 108) in connection with the –>Namik Caves in the vicinity of the village of Namik (note 1) in the upper reaches of the Gori Ganga and the south-eastern spurs of Nanda Devi. SITUATION: Principal Dr. Trilochan ARYAN (1992: 104) places Udyar at a travelling distance of 13 km from Chaunfoodhar (Pankhu) (note 2). Compare –>Chaunf Udhyar. ARYAN (1992: 106) gives a sketch map Namik Glacier Trekking Tracks Not To Scale and out of proportion, where either Udhyar or C (Heeramani Glacier) is shown at a travelling distance of 13 km or 15 km seemingly NNW of a place called Pankhu (not identified), which is shown to lie almost adjacent north of Chaunfudhar or Chaunfoodhar (Pankhu) (ARYAN 1992: 106) and at travelling distances of 5 km apparently ENE from Namik or 14 km sort of north from Queetee (note 3), which can be reached by bus from Haldwani (note 4) and Almora (note 5). Principal Dr. Trilochan ARYAN (1992: 04-108) places the same Udyar at a deranged and difficult to reconstruct spatial relation (literally quoted): Gogina to Naeebagar 15 km, Nayee bagar to Khar bagar 9 km, Kharbagar to middle of Heeramani and Namik glacier crossing and the Namik glacier 10 km and from this point to Udyar nearly 04 to 05 km.The suspicious place name Udyar (udhyar = cave, shelter) mentions ARYA (1992: 104, 106, 108) in connection with the –>Namik Caves in the vicinity of the village of Namik (note 1) in the upper reaches of the Gori Ganga and the south-eastern spurs of Nanda Devi.
