Description
About 50 »rock shelters« or caves (note 1) investigated Jerome JACOBSON (1980) from an archaeological point of view and provided one of the few published cave plans (JACOBSON 1980: 72 »Putli Karar Shelter PKF-6«) showing caves in India. SITUATION: Somewhere within Panna National Park Wild Life Sactuary and on the banks of river Ken.
NOTE 1: JACOBSON (1980: 69 map 1) indicates »(9) Putli Karar« about 15 miles (25 km) in a direct line east-south-east of Raisen town (N23°20': E77°48') and JACOBSON (1980: 74 table 2) positions »Putli Karar« at N23°16': 78°00' (Everest 1830): 1550 feet = 472 m asl somewhere near one Tikoda village in the Raisen tahsil of Raisen district.
