Location
An isolated hill on the north shore of the Mekong river is situated between Cham Hua (Chomngoua) and Luang Phrabang. The moderately high limestone hill hosts three caves, of which Tham Tatkeh is the main cavern. Access is best by boat. From the Mekong one has to climb up and follow the rotten remains of former wooden ladders and staircases to reach the entrance of Tham Tatkeh. Cave description: ? Citation: ? Analysis: [5158]: The cave consists of a spacious main chamber measuring approximately 35 m by 20 m wide with some roof cupolas found at more than 20 m high. The floor is paved and a number of Buddha figures are placed on a low stage in the eastern part of the chamber. Most of the statues are broken. Histoire
From the Mekong rotten remains of former wooden ladders and staircaseslead to the entrance. Steps have been constructed in the cave between large breakdown boulders. Tham Tatkeh was used several years ago as a show cave. The floor is paved and a number of Buddha figures are placed on a low stage in the eastern part of the chamber.
