Description
An undescended »circular pit, with perpendicular sides in the sandstones« near the village of »Umrasniang« (LATOUCHE, T H D 1883b: 200) or Umrasiang (note 1), a village about 3 km in a direct line approximately west-north-west of Musianglamare (note 2). ETYMOLOGY: No autochthonous, indigenous or locally known name has been identified for this closed depression (doline) named after the more or less nearby village of »Umrasniang« (LATOUCHE, T H D 1883b: 200) or Umrasiang (note 3). CAVE DESCRIPTION 1883: »Close to Umrasniang [sic!] village I observed a circular pit, with perpendicular sides in the sandstones, 50 or 60 feet [or, perhaps, yards] deep, and as many in diameter …« (LATOUCHE, T H D 1883b: 200). CAVE DESCRIPTION 1998: Valery Lalvula, Annette Becher, Lindsay B. Diengdoh, Richard 'Ritschi' Frank, Uwe Krüger, Thilo Müller, and Andrew "Andy" Peter Tyler came near the same village of »Umrasniang« (Latouche) or an other village of Umrasiang (sic!) across a doline 60 m in diameter and at least 40 m deep.
NOTE 1: Umrasiang (±75 m) 25°13'24”N: 92°20'43”E (WGS84, Becher, S Annette 1998.02 GPS). Umrasiang (±1 km) 25°13'42”N: 92°19'19”E (WGS84) modified from 25°13'40”N: 92°19'30”E (Everest 1830, Survey of India 83-C/SW edition 1922). NOTE 2: Musianglamare, old church, near (±32 m) 25°13'21”N: 92°21'26”E: 830 m asl (Gebauer, H D, unreliable 4-channel GPS Garmin 12) and an unidentified point 70 m further SSE near (±60 m) 25°13'19”N: 92°21'27”E (Chandler, I E undated March 1998 GPS reading). NOTE 3: u rshiang (Khasi; noun) a kind of sun-grass (SINGH, N 1906: 176).

EXPLORATION HISTORY: 1998.02.21: Unidentified »locals« (no names mentioned) indicated a collapse doline, pothole or vertical cave entrance to a team (Annette Becher, Lindsay B. Diengdoh, Richard Frank, Uwe Krüger, Thilo Müller, Valery Lalvula) of mislead cave entrance searchers "guided" by Andrew "Andy" Peter Tyler on a madly circuituous way to Krem Umsynrang.
