A man-made rock chamber used for religious purposes (rock temple, "cave" temple), which consists of two halls, of which one contains a Buddhist temple, has been recorded as »Pando Lena« (IMPERIAL GAZETTEER 1907-1909, 23: 41) Häh? is NOT indicated as »Pandu Lena« on the TOURIST MAP OF ANDHRA PRADESH (1973). IDENTITY: For a possible identity and better confusion, compare the –>Gangapur Caves. SITUATION: At the foot of a hill west of Mahur (note 2) in Sirpur - Tandur / Sirpur - Tandura taluk (note 1) and about 65 km in a direct line approximately WNW of Adilabad / Edlabad (N19°40': E078°32'). NOTE 2: nima.mil/geonames (accessed 16.11.2003) positions N19°51': E077°56' Mahur, populated place N19°50': E077°55' Mahur, mountainN19°57': E077°45' Mahur Road, railway station.

IMPERIAL GAZETTEER (1907-1909, 23: 40): »Sirpur Tandur (also known as the Amaldari).— Formerly a subdistrict in the Bidar Division of Hyderabad State, lying between 19°0' and 19° 56' N. and 77°53' and 80°0' E. … The Sahyadriparvat or Satmala range traverses the sub-district from the north-west to the south-east for about 175 miles [282 km] … The geological formations are the Archaean Gneiss; the Cuddapah [sandstones and limestones], Sullavai, and Gondwana series, the latter including Talcher [Talchir], Barakar, Kamptee, Kota - Maleri, and Chikiala beds; and the Deccan trap (W. KING, Memoirs, Geological Survey of India, vol. xviii, pt. iii).«
