Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

A stream sink in 10 m wide passage [trending south-east?], choked with sand after 10 m. Prospects grim (Boycott 2002.02.11 Mss: -Krem Umblai 1 & 2- dated 11/2/02). ETYMOLOGY: The cave called Krem Umblai (Boycott 2002.02.11 Mss: -Krem Umblai 1 & 2- dated 11/2/02) is probably named after the stream called Um Blai or Um Blei, which itself is named after an unidentified Ka Blei or U Blei (note 1), a characteristic vegetation (note 2), or the occurrence of an orange or orange-red variety of chalcedony (note 3). SITUATION: About 50 m east of track from Laitkynsew [note 4] to Mustoh [note 5] on sandstone - limestone boundary (Boycott 2002.02.11 Mss: Krem Umblai 1 & 2). Krem –>Umblai 2 may be positioned approximately 30 m further east (note 6). ELEVATION: Tony Boycott recorded (on the track not far from the cave) an elevation of 605 m (GPS Garmin 12XL) and Thomas Arbenz 400 m (unknown method, perhaps GPS Garmin 38). The latter was believed to be probably more reliable (Boycott 2002.06.17 persnal correspondence).A stream sink in 10 m wide passage [trending south-east?], choked with sand after 10 m.
