AA CAVE (Harper 2008) no. 24 chiring

Description
The stream, which rises from the -chignap- (exsurgence) of –>AA Cave (Harper 2008, no. 24 chignap), flows without identified direction for an estimated distance of 8 m on the surface and disappears into a complementary -chiring- (insurgence) consisting of a rift cave entrance without identified size or orientation (note 1). SITUATION: According to Harper (2008.02.18 Mss: Cave No. 24.pdf), a local guide [is] essential to explain the whereabouts of Cave No. 24 as it was understood to lie at an inexplicable location somewhere near (sic!) one of the nine distinct Nengkhong villages in the vicinity of Chibe River's confluence (N25°18'13”: E090°36'52” WGS84) with the Rongdik. According to the recorded GPS position (note 2), this -chiring- (Garo; literally: water flowing under) lies only 46 m in a direct line approximately south-west) (-27.8 m north and -36.4 m east) from –>Sapek Chiring (but about 30 m vertically higher up) and at a linear distance of almost 600 m in a direct line appoximately north-west (365.0 m north, -465.1 m east) from –>Dikkakol (WGS84 N25°19'50.7”: E090°36'01.3”: 209 m asl) but 21 m vertically higher up. CAVE DESCRIPTION: This rift is about 6 m long and 1 m wide and 15 m deep and can be free climbed to a point about 5 m above the floor, where [the awkward viewpoint allows a limited insight and one has the impression as if] the stream can be seen to sink in boulders and gravel. Rope [is] advisable to protect free-climbs or for abseil (Harper 2008.02.18 Mss: Cave No. 24.pdf). SPELEOMETRY: It only takes a little space warping effort to combine 8m est LENGTH with DEPTH: 15m est (Harper 2008.02.18 Mss: Cave No. 24.pdf). PROSPECTS: Prosanto Marak, Keith Sanderson and Rob Harper (2008.02.18 Mss: Cave No. 24.pdf) were in a position to conclude that they had No potential for further exploration.oximately north-west (365.0 m north, -465.1 m east) from –>Dikkakol (WGS84 N25°19'50.7”: E090°36'01.3”: 209 m asl) but 21 m vertically higher up.
