PHORKE CAVE 2

An exsurgence cave, which might have become lost when the cliff above collapsed some time during the monsoon season of 1994. The cave functions as a seasonal resurgence cave, which was almost dry in April 1980 but near the end of the 1986 monsoon the Czech expedition (CÍLEK et al. 1989) measured (estimated?) an outflow of 40 liters / second. In April 1980 the cave entrance was sort of secreted away among the largish boulders covering the slope at the foot of the western cliff of Phorke, and some 20 m south-west and 15 vertical metre below the central part of the cave entrance to –>Phorke Cave 1. A short climb down leads (lead?) to short passage (up to 5 m wide, less than a metre high) which, almost filled with large, disconnected boulders, arrived from an impenetrable climb up into unstable boulders that took a notable air current (sucking air draught, 1980.04.02 morning time).
