Description
The Sielkan "Village Gate" cave entrance (more than 15 m wide and high) faces east and gives access to a 30 m long 35° descend across loose rocks and dislocated boulders to intersect 18 m down the stream cave passage of –>Pielkhlieng Pouk. Just inside the cave entrance, a more or less horizontal cave passage (10 m wide, 8 m high, 13 m long, 230° / -13°) leads south to the edge of a balcony about 10 m above the streambed below. ETYMOLOGY: The –>Pielkhlieng Pouk entrance dubbed "Village Gate" was said to be locally called in Hmar (Mizo) »Sielkan Pouk« (Zuala Ralsun, Khaddum village, 1998 February) but in the Synteng Khasi (Pnar) »Krem Rwan Synkei« (Sambor Kympat, Mulian / Mu Mullieng / Moolian village, 2005.02.08SITUATION: About 300 m approximately north of an unidentified »centre« in the village of Sielkan (±250 m 25°11'47”N: 92°27'12”E: ca. (±25 m) 480 m) but some 30 m lower down. CAVE DESCRIPTION: Following the streambed leads on the one-hand side upstream to the base of the estimated 20 m high waterfall sinking in the insurgence –>Saikhlat Pouk (25°12'03”N: 92°27'13”E) but on the other downstream to the resurgence of –>Pielkhlieng Pouk (25°10'25”N: 92°26'48”E).
